OSHA 500 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety & Health Standards for the Construction Industry [Zoom]

Please note: this course has Prerequisites
• Completion of OSHA 510
• 5 years of construction safety experience OR 3 years of construction safety experience
plus one of the following:
--- o A bachelor's degree in occupational safety, health, or industrial hygiene
--- o Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
--- o Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
• OSHA 510 must be completed within 7 years of taking this course

How to Register: To register, you must download and complete the Prerequisite Verification Form and submit it along with your information as a file attachment to go.rutgers.edu/verify500. A complete application must be submitted 3 weeks prior to the course start date. Your registration will be confirmed once your prerequisites are approved, and payment is received.
Audience:
This course is designed for private and public sector personnel who wish to teach the 10 and 30-hour Construction Safety and Health Outreach Programs. Ideal participants include safety officers, managers, supervisors, and others responsible for workplace safety. Completion of OSHA 510 and at least 5 years of construction safety experience are required. Note: The 30-hour OSHA outreach course is not equivalent to OSHA 510.
Exclusions:
Participants must attend OTI Education Center Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) courses within their OSHA region. If you are outside of New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands, please contact the training manager at koshyko@rutgers.edu prior to registering.
Course Materials:
Materials will be mailed after registration is confirmed and payment is made. Payment is due 10 days before the course starts. Materials and Zoom links will only be sent once payment is received.
Important:
• You must be proficient with computer presentation software.
• You will be required to develop and present a PowerPoint presentation during class and pass a written exam to become an authorized trainer.
• Outreach trainers must renew their status every 4 years by attending OSHA 502 before their authorization expires.
Virtual Class Requirements:
• You must use a camera and microphone throughout the course.
• Test your Zoom setup in advance. Join the class 15-30 minutes early to check video and audio.

This course is Offered through Zoom Virtual Learning Platform. The OTI Education Center courses (OSHA # courses) are to be completed in the region the student lives/works (virtual or in-person). If you are not from New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, or US Virgin Islands, please consult with the training manager at koshyko@rutgers.edu prior to registering.
Due to OSHA’s virtual class policy, you MUST be on camera with a microphone throughout the duration of the class. It is up to you to test you and your computer’s ability to use Zoom in advance of the class. Should you need to use your work computer, or require technical support to resolve an issue with Zoom, please pre-arrange to have your company’s technical support available to assist you in advance of the class and when you first login to the Zoom class, should you need their help. We recommend you join the Zoom class 15-30 minutes early to test your video and microphone and check your Zoom account for technical software updates. If you are unable to confirm Zoom works well on the computer you will use for class in advance of this training, please consider registering for an in-person class instead.
