Remediation Strategies and Technologies for Environmental Contamination
This one day course focuses on identifying contaminants and remediation technologies for the cleanup of groundwater and soil at contaminated sites.
This course is designed to increase participant knowledge of techniques used for monitoring, remediating, and managing contaminated sites.
Review federal regulatory frameworks: safe drinking water act (SDWA), Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), and the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA)
Review current remediation technologies including:
§ Sodium hydroxide, hydrogen peroxide, sodium persulfate, potassium & sodium permanganate
§ Boss 200 (trade name – carbon/calcium sulfate mix)
§ Phytoremediation and bioremediation
· Emerging contamination e.g. PFAS
Pre-requisites: Recommend completing the 40-hr Hazardous Waste Operations course (not mandatory).
