Benefits:
This course is designed for personnel in the private and public sector interested in teaching the 10- and 30-hour General Industry safety and health outreach program to their employees and other interested groups. Special emphasis is placed on those topics that are required in the 10- and 30-hour programs as well as on those that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. Course participants are briefed on effective instructional approaches and the effective use of visual aids and handouts. This course allows the student to become a trainer in the Outreach Program and to conduct both a 10- and 30-hour General Industry safety and health course and to issue cards to participants verifying course completion (4 days). Private sector personnel who are not interested in conducting the 10- and 30-hour programs should enroll in OSHA 511. A copy of the CFR will be given to you on the first day of the training. PLEASE NOTE: Students in the OSHA 501 training must have proficiency with computer presentation software and be able to successfully develop and deliver an in-class presentation on an assigned topic to the satisfaction of the course instructor in order to pass the class. Students must also pass a written examination at the end of the course. Outreach trainers are required to attend an OSHA 503 at least once every four years, prior to their authorization expiration date, in order to maintain their outreach trainer status.

Audience:
Prerequisites: OSHA 511 and five years of general industry safety experience. Please note, the 30-hour General Industry OSHA outreach class is not considered equivalent to the OSHA 511. Also, the OSHA 511 course must have been completed within 7 years from the date of the 501 course you wish to attend. If you completed the course more than 7 years ago, you will then need to retake it to qualify for the OSHA 501.

Features:
Your OSHA 501 registration is pending review of the documentation from the OSHA 511 course you completed, and written proof of five years of general industry safety experience. Proof of safety experience (Trainer Verification Form) must be submitted to TrainerVerification@sph.rutgers.edu . Admittance to this class is on a first come, first served basis for pre-qualified applicants. Your registration is not complete until confirmed by Rutgers.

Notes:
Please bring with you a government issued photo ID. We will accept driver's licenses, passports, birth certificates, state and federal worker IDs, and university and school issued IDs. Please see our "cancellation policy" if you are unable to attend this course.
