methamphetamine (METH) use is a major public health threat to individuals, families, and communities. It is a problem that affects many segments of society regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or race/ethnicity. Children are at high risk for harm when exposed to meth use and manufacturing. Tends in drug use can vary. The National Institute of Drug Abuse reports overall, the use of stimulants has declined particularly for youth. On December 2, 2008 Gerald P. McAleer, the head of the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, NJ Office reports a 11 million dollar drug bust in West Patterson, NJ "This is the largest seizure of methamphetamine, not only in New Jersey, but in the entire Northeast" This seminar will include recent information from the National Meth Summit held in Washington DC this Nov. which the presenter was invited to by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment.
