Bridging the Gaps

The Bridging the Gaps Community Health Internship Program (BTG CHIP) provides health-related service to underserved populations while training community responsive health and social service professionals. BTG is a competitive paid 7-week summer internship for health profession students between their first and second year of studies. Students from all UMDNJ schools are eligible to participate. Interns are placed in interdisciplinary teams at a community agency. Community site are located in Camden, New Brunswick, and Newark. Students spend four days a week at their site, and one day a week in workshops. Each year students prepare posters on their experience, and participate in a panel presentation the Rutgers School of Public Health

During the session, student teams from each site prepared a brief presentation describing the agency, the work they did, and how the agency works to address health disparities in their community.
BTG is a consortium of universities in the Philadelphia area of which Rutgers SPH is a Network Affiliate.

Bridging the Gaps at Rutgers-SPH is funded through the New Jersey Public Health Training Center and federal work study funds. BTG Program Info general.pdf Applications for the Summer 2015 BTG program will be available in the spring
