1. NEW OSHA Safety & Health Specialist Certificate Program

Program Overview

The certification program is intended to give the health and safety professional comprehensive knowledge of workplace hazards and an understanding of OSHA regulatory standards.  These practical courses help students immediately apply what they have learned.

The Certificate will be awarded by The Region II: Atlantic OSHA Training Center (AOTC).  The AOTC is a collaboration of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, University at Buffalo, and the Universidad Metropolitana, San Juan, Puerto, Rico.

How the Program Works:

  • The certification program allows the student the opportunity to concentrate on construction or general industry.
  • The student can take these courses at any OSHA Training Institute Education Center and transfer the credits.
  • All courses previously completed will be grandfathered.
There is a $30 processing fee for the certification.

paper iconNIOSH Warns N-95 Unit's Label is Erroneous

NIOSH's National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) in Pittsburgh  issued a notice June 29 that says a particulate respirator named Nano Guard  is labeled with a NIOSH approval number it has not earned. 2HDistributors is  representing and selling the Nano Guard as a NIOSH-approved respirator, but  it is not, NPPTL warned. Heinz Ahlers, chief of the lab's Technology Evaluation Branch, issued the notice  and attached a copy of the Nano Guard's package label, which appears to bear  the logos of NIOSH and its parent agency, the U.S. Department of Health and  Human Services. Separately, NPPTL said June 23 that two NIOSH certificates of approval for  Crews Inc. Models RPN951 and RPN952 filtering facepiece respirators "are  null and void." Ahlers also issued this notice, which explained that the  certificates were voided by NIOSH "because there were false and material  misstatements in the applications submitted to NIOSH for the approval of these  respirators and these approvals should not have been issued. ... Respirators  bearing these approval numbers (TC-84A-4171 and TC-84A-4172) may no longer be  manufactured, assembled, sold, or distributed," it says. To contact the  Technology Evaluation Branch, call (412) 386-4000.
